About Destiny Majorettes
Home Destiny Majorettes are about having fun but also about learning to work in a team, coordination and building self-confidence. We compete in official Majorette Competitions around the East Anglian area. The troupe is composed of three sections according to age - Tiny Tots (school Year 4 and under, up to 8/9 years old), Juniors (school Year 9 and under, up to 12/13 years old) and Seniors (school year 10 upwards, 14 years old plus). During competitions several routines may be performed including military, inspection, pom, baton, flag, Tiny Tots and combination.

Destiny Majorettes train at Langham Community Centre, School Road, Langham every Tuesday evening from 6pm-9pm (Tiny Tots 6-7pm). The troupe is aimed at children/young people aged 5 to 18.

As well as competitions Destiny also makes public appearances at fetes, carnivals, firework displays etc. If you would like to know more about booking the troupe for an event or are interested in joining the troupe, please contact on (01206) 323221. We would also love to hear from local businesses who are interested in sponsoring the troupe.

Our History. Destiny was formed in 1991 originally as Village People Majorettes - the name coming from the fact that we were made up of children from the surrounding villages. We started with 7 girls but quickly grew in numbers to around 20.

At this time we only performed at fetes and carnivals and chose not to take part in competitions. This was because we knew of cases where girls had been reduced to tears when they came off the field if they had made a mistake in their routine, frightened that they would be told off. We decided that this was not the way we wanted to go - we wanted our girls to have fun - and so initially decided we would not take part in competitions.

However after a few years the girls decided that they would like to have a go at entering competitions - and so we did.

We had now grown in numbers to around 30 members - now with boys also included - and wanted a new image, so we decided to change our name to Destiny. This seemed to give everyone a lift and we have had a lot of success in competitions under our new name - but we still retain the principle of having fun and enjoying our hobby. We also still take part in major fetes and carnivals. We are one of the few troupes that take on boys - something of a mystery because the sport is open to all.

We are a family/committee run troupe and look upon all our members as part of one big family with parents taking an active role in all we do and we very much appriciate the support that we get from all our parents.
